Girl’s Session! | Mesa, Arizona

2017-06-02_0011.jpg

When your girls have girls, you celebrate it every chance you get!  Little sweet Jordan was the most recent addition to this family, born on April 29, 2017 and already she’s as sweet as can be.  She slept through the entire session, despite being passed around in 85 degree weather.

Her cousin is already obsessed with her, and who wouldn’t be?  The shirts from Glitter, Gliggles and Grin say it all!  (Keep scrolling to see the cuties dolled up in their coordinating tees!)

Though it’s fun to have a family of all girls, the celebrating extends a little beyond the fact they are all female.  Jill and Tim waited and prayed a long time, 974 days to be exact, to have this sweet girl and they are so excited to be able to show her off to the world.

I couldn’t wait to share this session with you, not just because they’re all dolls, but because it relays a little bit of hope.  If you’ve walked the path of infertility, or have struggled to get pregnant, know that you’re not alone.  There is hope.

Cookie Dough. America Idol. Nau. Lake Tahoe.

I have so, SO many memories with Ben and Anya. We were there for other when we needed someone the most. It’s been 9 years, NINE since I’ve seen and hugged Anya in person! I’m thankful for social media so we can keep up with each other even though we haven’t seen each other in so long! So much has happened in the span of years that has passed. We’ve both have gotten married, have two sweet little blonde haired babes and have both continued pursuing our passion for photography! She always had a camera with her in college and was there documenting all the fun times we shared with our college group!

So you’re probably wondering about the cookie dough and America Idol, huh? Though it probably doesn’t take much explaining! Almost every Tuesday for an entire season (I believe the year Jordin Sparks was on) she and I would meet at her apartment, eat dinner and watch American Idol and there was almost always, cookie dough in one form or another. Cooked, raw, it didn’t matter. We ate it. To this day, that recipe is hands down my all time favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe!

After she and Ben got married, they moved to Sacramento for Ben to start his first job in construction management. At the same time they were starting their marriage, mine was ending. It was a very painful time but I went to visit them for a few weeks and it brought so much healing to my soul. We hiked, we canoed, we ate, we laughed. It was what we both needed and it’s a time I’ll never forget!

Fast forward 9 years and God’s healing and restoration has been so evident in both of our lives. From the challenges that faced us then, to the challenges of mother hood now, the one constant in our lives has been the presence of our loving Savior. He is hope everlasting.

Kristen’s Wildflower Session

2017-03-26_0009.jpg

When Kristen saw my post for Wildflower Mini sessions, I got an inquiry from her almost immediately.  Her sweet boy Lightning is 15 years old now and in the last few weeks, has started having problems walking.  The vets can’t seem to figure out the exact cause but it seems to stem from neurological issues.  His poor front legs are so stiff which has made life hard on both him and Kristen.

A devoted animal lover, Kristen wanted pictures with her sweet boy before his condition worsened.  This session was more than just photos of herself.  We created memories for her to be able to hold near and dear to her heart of her sweet boy Lightning.

Perkins Family

2017-03-19_0001.jpg

My husband was watching the Perkin’s Family highlight video with me right before they came over for their gallery reveal and he said, “wow, you really got them laughing!”

“Oh, no!” I said. “That was all them!”

On their questionnaire, the Perkins family said they love to laugh together. I thought, oh that’s so sweet! Oh, little did I know…the laughter, the joking, the smiles did not stop the entire time. This is a family who genuinely loves being together.

I think it was the other way around, they actually got me laughing and it was so good for my soul!

Felicia’s parents, BJ and Oscar, are retired missionaries and are celebrating their sixty-fifth wedding anniversary this year. I am so amazed when I hear about people being married that long…and to think that Ryan and I have fifty-nine more years before we get to that point. Fifty-nine years of ups, downs, victories and defeats, sickness and health. Thinking that far into the future makes me slow down and appreciate what we have today, which is not easy for me to do. I find it easier to think two steps ahead than about the hear and now. But the thought of being married for sixty-five years and all the life that could happen between now and then causes me to focus on today. And you know what? I’m okay with that!

Congratulations BJ & Oscar!
